We, the residents of Van Buren Township, are initiating a recall of the entire Board of Trustees. This is due to the Board’s recent actions regarding the approval of a Hyper Scale Data Center and the $125 million local tax incentive given to Google to help build it.
We believe the Board has:
- Violated Transparency: Approved a major industrial project behind closed doors and under strict Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), keeping residents in the dark.
- Ignored Public Voice: Proceeded with a project of this scale, without the approval, input or consent of the residents who will be directly impacted.
- Acted in Bad Faith: Prioritized corporate interests over the safety, infrastructure, and quality of life of Van Buren Township residents.

How the process works
- Signatures are collected from registered voters in Van Buren Township.
- Signatures count if collected up to 60 days before the petition is filed.
- Once filed, the county reviews the signatures. If enough are valid, a recall election is scheduled. This election will likely occur in May 2027.
- During that recall election, the board members will have to face the voters and once again run for their seat. This will be our chance to elect new members to the board who will actually put our community over corporations!
